Alpha Box & Dice ‘Xola’ Aglianico
New wave, Australian surf-bum winemakers with a deep respect for the heritage of Italian wine but not respect for tradition. Â Or at least that’s how we imagine them. Â For all we know they’re just a trio of talented wine geeks. Â Anyway, they make great wine.

We’ve always been big fans of the southern Italian grape variety Aglianico which has been grown around the bay of Naples since the Greeks brought it there as much as 10 thousand years ago, so there’s plenty of heritage to appreciate here.
Immediate nose of beetroot juice poured over graphite shavings sets you up for quite a journey. The palate shares the same dense minerality and graphite texture as the nose with a quiet but growing presence of forest floor and frozen berries. On opening, this fruit thaws to release fresh summer pudding and cream served in a pencil case. Bonkers!
Produced from grapes farmed organically in vineyards in the process of attaining full organic certification.
