The second wine of Haut-Brion is a stunner and has one of the best track records of any second wine in Bordeaux, (the 1989 is widely regarded as the finest second wine ever produced).
Much of Haut-Brion’s unique terroir comes across in this earlier maturing style, and with one of Bordeaux’s greates winemaking teams behind it, the wine is complex and long-lived. Originally known as Bahans Haut-Brion, this is now called Le Clarence de Haut-Brion.
“An absolutely sensational second wine from Haut-Brion, the 2005 Bahans Haut-Brion displays all the smoke, gravel and chocolate notes along with ripe black fruits. Broad, savoury, rich and lush, this is a sensational wine (now called Le Clarence) with gorgeous texture and length”.
