Vallon des Anges, Domaine de Valdition
Grown in the lee of the Alpilles hills made famous by the paintings of Van Gogh during his stay at the asylum of nearby St-Rémy-de-Provence, this organic, biodynamic beauty was a firm favourite of Guy’s when he lived down that way. We import it directly from Valdition and believe that you’ll agree that this big, but subtly supple wine is well worth getting to know.

This herbal, peppery and powerful wine, with a little blackcurrant ‘grip’ is softened by fermentation in wood to develop cedar depths. It’s a blend of low-yielding Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, fermented in wooden tanks before maturing in a combination of large wooden and concrete vats to gain roundness without excessive oaky flavours (wooden vats) and preserving fruit freshness (concrete vats).
This is one of Domaine de Valdition’s special cuvées, produced in very limited quantity. This biodynamic wine comes from a region just south of Avignon more famous for its ‘apellation controlé’ olive oils but with a growing reputation for organic winemaking.

Domaine de Valdition is a biodynamic / organic vineyard based on the northern slopes of the Alpilles range of hills. All of their wines are produced following the biodynamic philosophy of Rudolph Steiner which seeks to align agricultural practices with the natural rhythms and balance of the surrounding natural environment. All wines are certified organic.
