TASTING WINE AT RISE & VINE
A founding principle of Rise & Vine is that we only ever select a wine for the shop (there are about 300 of ‘em!) if we have tasted it and we believe that we can sell it. “Great job!”, I hear you say. Well yeah but no but… Team R&V have selected those 300 wines because we enjoyed them. Nice. However, bear in mind that for every wine that we’ve tried and enjoyed, there are probably at least 3 more that we have rejected for reason from “the price ain’t right” to “that’s absolutely bogging!”
So if we believe that trying before buying is a good idea for us, it makes sense to share that ethos with our customers. For that reason, we offer the following wine tasting opportunities:
Have a Glass of Wine
Of course, we’re a wine bar as well as a shop, so you can always try a glass of something from our wines by the glass menu. Or ask us for a recommendation and sit in and enjoy any bottle from our full range. We also serve cheeseboards and other snacks to complete your wine tasting experience.
Wine of the Moment
Often we’ll have something new in or something that we feel would benefit from a little more attention. When we do, we’ll happily share a taster with you or sell you a glass.
Guided Wine Tastings
About once a month, we host a themed wine tasting where a dozen or so of us will sit down and taste wines selected for their seasonal suitability, for being from the same region or country, for being from the same grape variety or any other theme that takes our fancy. Each tasting is accompanied by a selection of suitable accompanying snacks, often from our wine bar snacking menu. A couple of times a year, for our Christmas and Summer tastings, we’ll push the boat out a little more with a seasonally designed snacking menu.
Our guided wine tastings are hosted by a member of the Rise & Vine team who will tell you all about the wine, what it’s made from, how it’s made, why we like it etc and will encourage discussion of the wine amongst the group. What do you taste in it? What might you eat with it? That kind of thing. We produce tasting notes for each wine tasted on that evening, too.
And if that’s not tempting enough, we offer a 10% discount on all of the wines tasted on that night and, of course, our delivery services are also available.

Open Season FREE Wine Tastings
We are always refreshing the range at Rise & Vine and we’re always keen to share our new discoveries. So four times a year, we persuade our suppliers to supply us with sample bottles of new wines and old favourites and we throw the shop doors open on a Saturday afternoon to share them with whoever chooses to turn up! (This is not a guided tasting to a select group! We’ll do our best to tell you all about that season’s selection, but we get a fair few people in and sometimes you might need ‘jumble sale elbows’ to get your glass topped up!

Giving Tickets As A Gift
Think it might be a cool to give a wine tasting as a gift? How about a jazz and wine evening? Well you can do just that.
For each Rise & Vine event, at the bottom of its page in your registration details, you’ll find an option to buy a ticket to send to a friend.
And there’s another option: You can buy an ‘open’ voucher for a Rise & Vine wine tasting that the recipient can redeem against the event of their choice.
