ARIEL Chardonnay is a dealcoholized wine made by J Lohr at their sustainable winery in Paso Robles, utilising all the care, expertise and attention given to their alcoholic wines. Composed of Chardonnays from the 2018 vintage, with an emphasis on tropical fruit character, ARIEL Chardonnay is cold-fermented in stainless steel and small French oak barrels, before being blended and undergoing more oak barrel aging. Just prior to bottling, the alcohol is gently removed by cold filtration, leaving less than 0.5% alcohol by volume. Unlike many 0% ABV wines, ARIEL Chardonnay is left without residual sugar, preserving the distinctive combination of buttery apple and butterscotch characteristics, underpinned by a toasty French oak bouquet.
Ariel wines are made in a solar-powered winery. Markedly, the three-acre photovoltaic solar tracking array on site is the largest of its kind in the American wine industry and it provides over 90 percent of the winery’s annual energy.
