Festive treats for Christmas 2022
‘Tis the Season, so we’re ready… Obviously there’s a whole lot of feasting coming down the line, so here, apart from the usual “bottle-of-something-nice” or (even better) “case-of-something-nicer”, here are some options for making your Yuletide swing:
(But before we begin, just a quick note to say that there’s still no replacement for dropping in to your local independent wine store and picking the brains of their friendly*, well-informed staff. *We make exceptions for guy on ‘doing the accounts days’ and for Luca in general. Not that he’s not friendly, it’s just that we always make exceptions for Luca.)
A Case of Yule
Our festive cases are available throughout the festive period. Order on-line or pick up from the shop.
Each ‘Case of Yule’ follows the perfect plan for a traditional festive feast:
- each starts with Champagne, obvs
- then there’s something white and crisp and even, ideal to accompany seafood and the like
- for the main event, there’s a ‘Pinot with the bird’
- followed by a big red for cheese (… or leftovers, … or fireside sipping?)
- there’s something sweet to go with something sweet
- and finally, a big
fat(we don’t say fat any more do we?) voluptuous white wine for the day after, be that a cold collation or just a turkey sarnie.
Each case comes in a damn-fine-lookin’ hand-stamped presentation box.
We have three versions of the Case of Yule at three different price points. Details of all three cases can be found on our website or at the shop:
Case of Yule ‘Classic’ festive case – £108 £98
Case of Yule ‘Top Shelf’ festive case – £237 £215
Case of Yule ‘Connoisseur’ festive case – £449 £425
Don’t forget that, as usual, if you order any mixed case of 12 or more wines, there’s a 10% discount on all of the still wines included (excluding fine wines) and that all orders of £30 or over are eligible for free local delivery (within 1.5 miles of Rise & Vine). Delivery further afield can also be arranged throughout mainland UK for a very reasonable price (automatically calculated on the website).
It’s a Cracker
You know the Lind & Lime gin, from Leith in Scotland, don’t you? The one in the beautiful bottle. And have you come across their miniatures , that are so pretty that they’re now adorning our festive window display? Well this winter the Leith Distillery have released a limited edition, super cute, Christmas cracker pack containing one miniature gin bottle, which we’re selling for £8.50 a pop. Ideal stocking fillers, tree gifts or table decorations…
Christmas Beer
As well as our usual selection of craft beers from around the UK and beyond, we have three festive offerings: a sweet and spicy Christmas ale from Norway; an alcohol-free version of the same brew; and a dark and slightly bitter brew from weekend brewers, Belgium’s De Ranke Brewery.
Winter Warmers: Christmas Gin and Mulled Cider
We continue to serve mulled cider to drink in the bar or take away into the frosty wider world as well well as Rise & Vine Christmas Gin and Ginger – our homemade festive gin maceration served with a dash of ginger ale.
Of course, as with all our homemade cocktails, the Christmas Gin is also available to take home in 200ml bottles and in their special 100ml stocking-filler version. They’re only available from the shop, I’m afraid (it’s a licensing thing).
Festive Packaging
And as you’ll have seen from the festive cases, above, we continue get creative with our rubber stamps and are happy to decorate any box, gift bag or bottle wrap for any of your Christmas gifts. We have a range of bottle bags, kraft card presentation boxes and wooden boxes available for all your gift wrapping needs.
