Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from a top producer at a great price. What’s not to like?
Beautiful Cabernet aromas of blackcurrant intermingle with wood notes and cedar. Supremely drinkable at a refreshing 13% alcohol. Lots of class and quality making. This is seriously good.
Whilst Yabby Lake, the home of Distant Noises’ winery, is on Mornington Peninsula where Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes enjoy the cooler coastal climate, the heat loving Cabernet Sauvignoin grapes for this wine are grown just inland in the iconic Yarra Valley.
Distant Noises
Distant Noises is an exciting new portfolio of varietal wines made by Tom Carson of Yabby Lake (and previously Yering Station) fame. The range was originally created for a smart restaurant group in Australia… when we got wind of it we were more than a little keen to get involved. Tom sources the fruit from tip top Yarra Valley growers and the winemaking is as sensitive, precise and assured as befits his reputation. The beauty of Distant Noise is both the quality of these varietal incarnations… and their price! Tom set himself the challenge of making premium Yarra wines at a price that you rarely see for wines from this region. Why, in this venal old world, would he do that? Well, having achieved pretty much everything else there is to achieve in wine and having reached the summit several times over, Distant Noises was Tom’s chance to do that rare thing of making a cracking range of wines that punch above their weight and are accessible to everyone. We’ll take that!
