Madai Origen Mencía
Wines from Bierzo are having a bit of a renaissance at the moment, grown in cooler North-Eastern Spain and thus not so full on as some of those big Spanish reds grown in the heat and matured in oak, this one is a medium-bodied, fruit-forward delight.

Vibrant aromas of cherry and red berry with floral notes. The palate is medium-bodied and black-fruited with just a hint of liquorice, floral characters and gentle but persistent tannins – all balanced by fresh acidity and a satisfying finish.
Madai is the creation of the Amigo brothers, who returned to their native Bierzo to rejuvenate their grandparents’ vineyards planted with old vine Mencia grapes (over 80 years of age). The wine spends 6 months on its lees.
