Pierre Chainier Pinot Noir

You know what, a decent £12 bottle of French Pinot Noir is becoming a more challenging proposition. So here’s one from the Loire Valley, a little further West than Pinot Noir’s home land of Burgundy, but an equally cool climate which produces soft and subtle wines. What we love about this wine is its low acidity, soft flavours of cherry, mace and salinity. Can’t argue with that.

Produced by Pierre Chainier Ets who own the largest vineyard holdings in Touraine. Pinot Noir grapes grown mainly on limestone soils in the cooler area to the east of Touraine bring good varietal characteristics are blended with grapes sourced from the warmer south of France to add weight and richness. Gentle oak treament gives a smooth character to the wine.

Bright red berries on the nose, and bursting with crunchy juicy, berry fruit flavours with a touch of dry, oak influence. Well-balanced with a lightly grippy, fresh finish.
