Coterie by Wildeberg, Semillon – Sauvignon Blanc
Another cracking wine by one of our favourite South African wineries, this classic Bordeaux Blanc blend does everything you’d expect of a similar wine from the old country with rich Semillon balancing crisp Sauvignon, but it brings particularly South African notes of smoke and tropical fruit to the party too.

The nose is rich and smoky/oily with complex aromas of lemongrass, grapefruit, hay and fennel.
On the palate, rich Semillon is balanced by crisper, greener Sauvignon flavours, there’s stewed gooseberry, herbs and baking spices, orange rind, wood, smoke and toffee, unctuous texture and a taut long finish.
Wildeberg’s rationale is to source the finest vineyards available to us across Franschhoek and the Coastal Region. Semillon from Franschhoek is barrel fermented in 600 litre French and Austrian oak then aged for 10 months in 36% new barrels, 44% 2nd fill and 20% in stainless steel vats. The Sauvignon Blanc is fermented in stainless steel and kept on the gross lees for 10 months. Once the blend is decided the wine is allowed to marry in tank for 6 weeks prior to coarse filtration and bottling.
