Spätburgunder, Fritz Walter
What can we say about the Germanic delight that is Spätburgunder – it’s freakin’ awesome! Spätburgunder loosely translates as ‘done in a burgundy style’ so think light, fruity, ruby colour and mouth-wateringly delicious. With warm cherry, rose and tobacco in the nose. Clean, soft, herbal, redcurrant/cherry, smoky/ham background. Very French in style but not the same price tag.

Due to the temperate climate of the region with warm summers and relatively warm winters, wines from the region can be powerful and rich. Harvesting is carried out when the berries reach the optimum level of ripeness. At the winery, the fruits are subjected to traditional vinification, which takes place at a temperature controlled at each stage of production. Then the wine is aged 12 months in oak barrels.
