Martha’s Reserve Port, Port of Leith Distillery
This family estate has been producing exquisite Tawny Port in the Douro Valley since the mid 18th century. For much of that time, their wines were sold to merchants in Porto to be bottled under other people’s brands. So when they were searching for port barrels in which to mature their whisky, and the guys from Port of Leith Distillery discovered this stuff, they couldn’t quite believe their taste-buds.

This Reserve Tawny has been matured for 6 to 8 years and retains incredibly pure and vibrant red fruit flavours with a beautiful nutty undertone.
In the long run, the Port of Leith Distillery will principally be a whisky distillery. But seeing as single whisky takes at least 3 years to be released and the Port of Leith guys expect to mature theirs for significantly longer, then the Port of Leith Single Malt Whisky is still quite a way off! But there are other things that they can bring us a little sooner.
The popular and award winning Lind & Lime gin is one of them. But they have also sourced an Olorosso Sherry and this Tawny Port as an essential part of the whisky making process. Whisky is often matured in casks previously used to make sherry and port and so Port of Leith Distillery took the next step and instead of sourcing previously used casks, they have sourced a sherry and port ideally suited to imparting their rich and nutty flavours to the new whisky and bought the casks full.
