‘Les Vignes du Bourg’. Muscadet Sevre et Maine sur Lie, Julien Braud

A nose full of  custard and sea air may not be what you want at a children’s beach party, but it’s just what you want when it comes to Muscadet and this one has loads!  It starts green, clean and slightly tingly in the mouth with a touch of salinity, hints of bay leaf and a classic, ‘sur lie’ creamy finish.

The importer describes ‘Vignes du Bourg’ as having delicate aromas of wet stone and pretty orchard fruit. With great tension, a mineral core embracing appealing bright citrus and summer fruit salad flavours, this fine Muscadet has a silky texture and a long finish.

6th generation of vinegrower in the area, Julien Braud set up his own estate in the heart of Monnières in 2012. Since its inception, he had the vision to produce organic wines, paying tribute to the local grape variety and highlighting the region’s exceptional terroir. 

Located in western Loire Valley, near the Atlantic Ocean, the Muscadet appellation is covered by rolling hills nestled between the rivers ‘Sèvre’ and ‘Maine’. It produces characterful and mineral white wines made exclusively from Melon de Bourgogne varietal and aged on fine lees.
