Festive Selection 2023 – spirits and fortifeds

The final festive round up and we’ve already done the wine and beer so it must be time to concentrate on the last part of our strapline, the spirit of independence…

New things from Leith

We have two new whiskies and a sweet PX sherry from those lovely people in Leith in Scotland as well as the full family of the beautiful Lind & Lime gin (daddy, mummy and baby = magnum, bottle and miniature) including miniatures in crackers, ideal for stocking filling and place settings.

Perpetuity, Batch 2 – The second iteration of the Leith Distillery’s infinite blend

Table Whisky – A young and vibrant grain whisky in the tradition of American Bourbon

Port of Leith Pedro Ximenez – In the tradition of maturing whisky in sherry casks, Leith Distillery have gone one step further and bought their sherry casks full

Lind & Lime Gin – Named after James Lind, described on Wikipedia as ‘pioneer of naval hygiene, which does not mean that he was lint-free, but rather discovered the curative power of limes over scurvy.

Now available in miniaturesbottles, and magnums

From The Cotswolds’ Distillery

Back in stock, too, is the full range of Cotswolds gin, whisky and cream liqueur (it’s like somebody went back to basics and made Baileys from scratch without the chemical additives), again with 20cl gin and whisky minis – bigger than miniatures – for stocking filling purposes.

Cotswolds Gin 70cl – Cotswolds Gin 20cl

Cotswolds Whisky 70cl – Cotswolds Whisky 20cl

Cotswolds Cream Liqueur

Duvel Distilled – The jewel in the crown – if not, to look at it, the whole flipping crown – is the Spirit of Duvel (rhymes with double, not poubelle). It’s a whisky in all but name made by distilling Duvel beer.

And of course, we have the usual collection of carefully curated sherries and ports, gins and whiskies, rums, brandies and liqueurs.

Rise & Vine Christmas Gin – This one, for licensing reasons, is only available in the shop, we’re afraid. But if you’re in the ‘hood, then we heartily recommend that you drop in an try (and buy). It’s a combination of East London Gin and our own homemade festive syrup, blending everything Christmas… cranberries, redcurrants, oranges and mulling spices. Great on its own – try putting it in a hipflask (come to think of it, it comes in its own 200ml or 100ml hipflask anyway) to warm you on a Boxing Day hike – or add a splash of dry ginger to make a longer drink.

Sold in 200ml bottles (4 generous serves) or 100ml bottles as ideal stocking fillers or Christmas tree decorations.
